SIGGRAPH 2025 in Vancouver is right around the corner! befores & afters will be there, of course. Some exciting news is that I’ll be hosting a couple of sessions during the conference. Here are the details!
Animation Theater In Conversation: In Your Dreams
This special session is a sneak peek of the upcoming Netflix feature animation release, In Your Dreams, made at Imageworks. Join us for a live in-person conversation with director Alex Woo, Sony Pictures Imageworks visual effects supervisor Nicola Lavender and head of character animation Sacha Kapijimpanga — I’ll be moderating! There’s a fun Q&A scheduled afterwards plus an exclusive poster signing!

Three VFX Supervisors, One Vision: Giving Soul to the Frame in Sinners
This Foundry session (register here) will feature three VFX supervisors from Sinners — production VFX supervisor Michael Ralla, ILM’s VFX supervisor Nick Marshall, and Rising Sun Pictures VFX supervisor Guido Wolter. They will discuss twinning shots, set extensions and the art of working with 65mm film, including how Nuke was utilized in the process. I’ll be moderating the conversation.

This year, I’m the Computer Animation Festival Film Event Lead, and we’ve been getting some amazing events ready, including the In Your Dreams session. There’s also the incredible Toy Story 30th anniversary screening on Sunday, August 10th, with a whole talk and introduction from Ed Catmull. Plus, the Animation Theater In Conversation: Inkwo for When the Starving Return session that looks at stop-motion and CG, happening on Wednesday, August 13th.
