Here at SIGGRAPH 2025 in Vancouver, we’ve just had a very special event celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pixar’s Toy Story.
In partnership with ACM SIGGRAPH Pioneers, the Computer Animation Festival featured Ed Catmull, co-founder of Pixar and a pioneering figure in computer graphics, discussing the history of Toy Story, which is three decades old this year.
He gave a talk from the heart about the studio and about the making of the film, including its many trials and tribulations in getting to the screen.
Then, attendees got to watch the film, in 4K!
There were also fantastic give-aways – a big thanks to Pixar and RenderMan (and in particular Dylan Sisson) for making those possible.
As CAF Film Event Lead, it was so fun to be part of organizing this event alongside CAF Director Dawn Fidrick and Chair of the SIGGRAPH Pioneers, Ed Kramer. The whole CAF team was so incredible making everything happen.
