Going from greenscreen buck to soaring creature

How Framestore crafted the Bennu in ‘Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire.’

Today on the befores & afters podcast we’re chatting to Framestore visual effects supervisor Bob Winter about his studio’s work for Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child of Fire. This included the bird-like creature the Bennu, which is at one point ridden by the character Tarak. Bob and I discuss setting up the shooting of the Bennu sequences with stunties, greenscreen performers and a stuffie. Plus we compare that with the creature Harmada, more of spider-like being which came together also with a great actor and stunt performance, and blending of practical make-up effects with digital effects.
