In Ang Lee’s Gemini Man, coming later this year from Paramount, Will Smith is a hitman who faces off against a younger clone of himself. The project has been around for some time, and in the early 2000s, Disney had artists from Walt Disney Feature Animation and The Secret Lab work on tests to capture a human performance and create a corresponding – and younger – digital human avatar.

I wrote all about this previously at Cartoon Brew – check out the article here.

In the meantime, a trailer for Lee’s Gemini Man just dropped. Check it out for some incredible examples already of the younger Smith in action, which Weta Digital is handling.
