Wire stunt performers offer significant advantages for motion capture, especially in action-heavy or physically demanding scenes. This technique is increasingly in demand in the film industry, particularly within superhero, sci-fi, and fantasy genres.
Authentic Daredevil Action
When paired with skill and precise body control, wire stunts can execute complex aerial maneuvers, flips, and quick reflexive actions (think explosions) — all feats that are challenging to achieve with hand-key animation. “Motion capture relies on the body’s lines to reconstruct the shape and movement of a person, so the resulting curves can often look a bit different,” explained Jun-Xi Wu, Stunt Choreographer from the Hung Ga Ban Team.
”However, when viewed with the naked eye, the motion usually appears acceptable. That’s why, during many of our motion playback sessions, we need to review the captured animation to examine the body’s curves and verify whether the performed actions meet our requirements.”
