August 9, 2024

Season 4’s flying killer sheep, cloning, shapeshifters, eels, octopus and more.

Today on the befores & afters podcast, we’re chatting to visual effects supervisor Stephan Fleet about season 4 of The Boys. Every season of this show seems to up the ante, and season 4 is no exception. There’s flying sheep, crazy cloning, characters fighting shapeshifters, characters with eels coming out of their mouths, and a lot of other crazy stuff.

With Stephan, we go into detail on acquiring reference for particular shots—including from actual pieces of meat—shooting motion control, and collaborating with SFX and the cinematography teams.

This episode is sponsored by Autodesk University 2024, the Design & Make conference of the year, bringing together innovators in animation, VFX, games, and more to discuss the future of media & entertainment.
