Making slimer, a sewer dragon and those Mini-Pufts for ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’

Delivering new ghosts, with an old-school feel.

This week on the befores & afters podcast, we’re talking Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire with Imageworks visual effects supervisor Jason Greenblum.

Jason worked with production VFX supe Geoffrey Baumann, who’s also the subject of a written article here.

Jason goes into detail about several of the characters and scenes Imageworks crafted for the film, including Slimer, the sewer ghost, Melody, Garaka, and those Mini-Pufts.

I really enjoyed hearing about the translation of a 1984 sensibility, that is, from the original Ghostbusters, to this new film, where certainly animatronics and puppets and that old school optical ghost look served as leaping off points for Imageworks.
