Issue #40 features production visual effects supervisor Adam Valdez, production visual effects producer Barry St. John, MPC visual effects supervisor Audrey Ferrara and production animation director Daniel Fotheringham.
The issue is intended to celebrate the work of thousands of MPC artists who contributed to the film.
Several new techniques were invented by MPC for Mufasa. These included converting human motion capture performances onto quadruped lions, more closely integrating Unreal Engine scenes into traditional visual effects workflows, and new ways of generating and grooming fur and hair. Hugely complex character animation, environments, FX and compositing were also part of the mix.

You can also grab the issue in PRINT from Amazon (that’s the US store, make sure you try your local Amazon store, too).
