The new issue of befores & afters magazine in PRINT is now out!
Issue #24 covers the visual effects and virtual production of Robert Zemeckis’ Here, including the de-ageing of stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, plus the shoot involving a fixed camera and LED wall setup.
It also goes into depth on the various machine learning techniques used on the film, as overseen by visual effects supervisor Kevin Baillie. The work by Metaphysic, DNEG and Dimension/DNEG 360 is covered.
There’s some really interesting aspects covered here, especially related to the de-ageing tech, but also the use of machine learning for up-res’ing imagery, and for working out the film’s unique transitions.
