Our top 5 must-see sessions on visual effects at VIEW Conference.
The VIEW Conference kicks off in Turin, Italy on 14th October, and befores & afters will be there. There’s five days of incredible talks planned on VFX, animation, virtual production, filmmaking and more.
It’s almost impossible to highlight every talk, but for those VFXers thinking of attending, we thought we’d highlight a few must-see visual effects presentations on offer. Some are on brand new productions, while others are more retro.

Here’s our list:
1. Long Live the Fighters: The VFX of Dune: Part Two – this is an epic presentation from multiple filmmakers involved with the film. You’ll hear from Paul Lambert, Overall VFX Supervisor, Patrick Heinen, Second Unit VFX Supervisor from Wylie Co., Rhys Salcombe, VFX Supervisor, DNEG and Stephen James, VFX Supervisor, DNEG.
2. The VFX of Deadpool & Wolverine – Production VFX supe Swen Gillberg breaks down the film.
3. Volumetric Capture, Performance Relighting, and Sodium Vapor Matting, from Paul Debevec – Paul is now Chief Research Officer at Eyeline Studios, and will showcase recent work done there on films like The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Yu Yu Hakusko, plus dive into some fun old-school history.
4. VFX of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga – I’ll be joined by production VFX supervisor Andrew Jackson to discuss the George Miller film.
5. Lightning In a Bottle: Capturing the Magic of Davy Jones – Hal Hickel from ILM goes back in time to examine the groundbreaking Davy Jones work in the Pirates sequels.
