Ray tracing in the real-time world of LED walls.

This week on the befores & afters podcast, we’re chatting to Chris Nichols from Chaos. Chris is the director of special projects at the Chaos Innovation Lab, and also the host of the CG Garage Podcast. He’s also a great friend of befores & afters, and one of those people in VFX who’s so switched on to what’s happening in the industry.

I sat down on zoom with him to talk about Chaos’ Project Arena. This is an upcoming toolset that lets artists move V-Ray assets and animations to LED walls, with the important benefit of ray tracing in this real-time world for LED walls.

Chris runs through a history of virtual production, real-time and ray tracing at Chaos with V-Ray, and how Project Arena — which is still in its initial stages — does all those things.

Check out the podcast below, and some behind the scenes videos.
